Wedding Questions:
What is your photography style?
Our wedding photography cannot be defined by one style. We photograph the day as it happens, and your wedding is a direct reflection of your personality and love for one another. We capture the interaction between you, your family and your friends. Allowing our images to tell the story of your wedding day. All of our images capture the connection between our couples.
What kind of equipment do you photograph with?
We exclusively use Canon Digital Professional gear. We have a variety of high end lenses and 21 Mega pixel cameras. We are continually investing in new and innovative equipment, to give our clients remarkable image quality.
Do you work solo? or Do you use an assistant
I do have an assistant photographer, Yosuke, at this time. Many photographers use assistants to carry equipment and put memory cards and fresh batteries in their cameras. Trained photojournalists are used to working by themselves. No assistant means less distraction, and I don’t have to worry about keeping an assistant out of the pictures!
In many cases (such as very large weddings), I will have an assistant/associate photographer. Generally speaking, photo journalistic coverage of most wedding does not require a great deal of "people wrangling" because it is an inherently hands-off approach to begin with.
Do you have a backup photographer in the event that you're ill?
Yosuke :)
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, and this is done with your best interests in mind. Once I have accepted your booking fee and signed contract, I am no longer available to anyone else for that date. As it is likely I will have to turn down others for your date, the booking fee is non-refundable.
Do you do formal portraits on the wedding day?
Don't worry, we'll be sure to get all the formal shots you want. Formal or "posed" pictures are an important tradition and always make their way into the wedding album and frames destined for the mantle.
Can we give you a shot list for the wedding?
A family list for portraits is fine, however a "to-do" list is more of a distraction from what I've been hired to do in the first place: shoot spontaneous, once-in-a-lifetime moments that can't be predicted. There is no list for that. For family portrait sessions I always recommend a family member or someone in the wedding party assist with locating people for posed shots requested by the bride and groom.
Do you contract with professional hair and makeup artists?
If clients desire professional grooming, they are responsible for making such arrangements with their stylist(s) of choice prior to the session.
Do you do retouching?
One of things setting me apart from most other portrait and event photographers is that every final proof image is post-processed for maximum quality; this often includes removal of under-eye circles, blemishes, etc., and fine artistic enhancements.
How many images will I get?
Clients will get approximately 300 images of their wedding. When we photograph weddings we do not limit ourselves on the amount of images taken. We take as many images as we need to best tell your wedding story. Each image is completely post-processed and no further finishing or enhancements are needed to be made for reprints.
Is every proof available in options like B&W, Sepia, etc.?
Because we photograph with digital equipment, in a RAW format, our images are initially captured in colour. We convert them into various tones that suits each individual image. I will make the specific determinations for each individual shot during shooting and post-processing based on my own artistic eye and expertise. The final proofs are shown "as is" and are not available in alternative processes or tones.
Do we get the high resolution files? (Digital Negatives)
Yes, your wedding package includes a DVD containing all the images retouched and in high resolutions. We give you the license to reproduce your images. Do keep in mind that clients invest in my time and talent because of the distinctive quality of my work. My professional lab produces high-quality prints based on the color space I work in during capturing and processing, and these prints certainly meet my high standards and represent my photography in a way that upholds my artistic integrity and professional image. Raw, unprocessed digital files are not available to clients. I highly recommend that you do order the prints through me or through the lab linked to your private online gallery.
How soon will I see my photos? What is the turnaround on print orders?
All of your images are posted on a personal password protected online gallery approximately two months after the wedding or 2 weeks after a one hour session. This gallery can be shared with friends and family across the globe. This unique service allows you the freedom to view your files in the comfort of your own home whenever you choose. This personal gallery will stay on line for 3 months time. If your gallery needs to be extended, there will be a $100 fee for additional time. Turnaround time on print orders varies depending on the quantity, size and types of prints ordered, as well as the time of year at which the order is placed. Clients can expect most standard print orders to be fulfilled within four to six weeks.
Is there a time limit to order prints from the session? How long do you keep the image files?
The 15% print discount applies only to the FIRST order placed through me within four weeks of the client's receipt of private online gallery. This offer will only apply to prints 11x14 or larger. Online galleries expire ninety days from their initial upload. A $100 fee is charged to renew the gallery. Image files are kept on file for three years following the event date, and reprints may be ordered during that period at whatever pricing is current.
What if I only want the digital negatives? Can't you just subtract the cost of everything else and pass along the savings?
It may seem counter-intuitive, but even if I did offer "shoot and burn" (which I don't), I would price such a plan at a premium, not a discount. Clients invest in my photography because of the distinctive quality of my work. The manner in which this work is presented and shared directly reflects my professional image and brand identity. Naturally, I'm very invested in the finished product that is presented to my clients, and it's important to me that all my clients have quality, tangible photographic heirlooms. Raw, unprocessed digital files are not available to clients.
